What you may not realize is that there are activities you already do that put you in a meditative state and identifying those gives you a reference you’ve already experienced to work off of to know when you are in a meditative state. Don’t think too hard about this because it is a very primal thing that can be a victim to overthinking. So, here are things you may already be doing that put you in a meditative state:

  • Doing the dishes

  • Ironing

  • Widdling

  • Mowing the lawn

  • Fishing

  • Driving

  • Listening to a boring lecture

  • Painting

  • Crocheting

  • Weeding

These tasks are repetitive but have you doing something that allows you to explore your inner world without pure focus. And, this may be a way for those who have a hard time with focusing or sitting still to transition to a more focused meditation practice. While the method I’m encouraging is putting a great deal of focus inward, these other methods may be a gateway to getting that focus eventually or even getting to the imagination place and witnessing information easier for some.
