What are Soul Abilities?
There are many different ways to use soul abilities that translates to psychic skills, intuitive skills, healing abilities or mediumship abilities. It is not how you sense but what you experience that makes a soul ability. Everyone has access to their soul abilities. Some people may be able to access more abilities than others. Some people will be able to have high skills in multiple abilities or modes. Which of these abilities is your strongest right now, how many can you tap into right now- these are questions that you need to investigate, have curiosity about and experiment with on your own.
For now, just being aware of the different soul abilities could open up definitions and clarity for the developing psychic, intuitive, healer or medium.
Here is your chance to get to know an ability and, upon reflection, see if you have experienced something that fits within this experience’s boundaries.
What is Precognition?
In simple terms, seeing the future. Other terms related to precognition include: prescience, future vision, future sight, premontions, second sight, dream precognition, psychic.
Let’s check on a few other definitions just to get some more perspective:
From Psi-Encyclopedia, a project of the Society for Psychical Research : “The appearance or acquisition of non-inferential information or impressions of the future.”
From the Cambridge Dictionary: “Knowledge of a future event, especially when this comes from a direct message to the mind, such as in a dream, rather than by reason.”
From Merriam-Webster: “Clairvoyance relating to an event or state not yet experienced.”
Let’s connect the pieces: a vision of a future event that acquired through extra sensory perception (ESP).
It’s another controversial subject out there but is gaining reputable clout as discussed in this article about Cornell University professor, Daryl Bem who conducted experiments testing ESP abilities using classic experiments and results suggesting psi phenomena. He published his findings in The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology in a paper called "Feeling the Future: Experimental Evidence for Anomalous Retroactive Influences on Cognition and Affect."
I don’t know about you, but psi is a new term for me- so, I had to look this up. Well, it turns out that psi has a similar meaning to ESP via Merriam-Webster: “Parapsychological psychic phenomena or powers.”
So, Professor Bem is turning the science world for a loop with all of this ESP information, and if you want to read more about it, check out this Slate.com article that really goes into Bem’s story, the experiments and even perspective from the study subjects’. Fascinating.
Dominant Soul Senses Used In Precognition
The soul ability that is the house of this specific ability lies in the psychic realm. The main senses that create a precognition experience really centers around the psychic sense/soul sense of clairvoyance. There is an image factor that is in this that seems to be central to the experience.
But, I would not discount other clairs needed in conjunction with a vision order to receive a ‘future’ reading.
My Experience with Precognition
Again, not super familiar with the meaning and word precognition until now but, with this definition put forth to me I recognize a defining moment emerge of my psychic experiences from my lifetime.
The experience that really heightened my interest in exploring psychic phenomena was a dream I had when I was 13 years old. At this time in my life my consciousness was awakening in that my perception of the world had evolved to a more adult mindset. I became more interested in creating and was prolifically creating and recording my own music and developing my art skills. I was also really into Classic Rock bands that were more cerebral with their music, such as The Who and the Doors and that seemed to be in line with my need to explore my own consciousness and understanding of the world.
This time was also when I was interested in documenting dreams, learning divination and astrology. I started a dream journal around this time, in which I would wake up and recall the dreams I had and then document them in my journal.
It was a week before my seventh grade year in school was set to begin and also the day I had started my first ever period. I state this as I think there is a correlation between these significant milestones coinciding. I was sitting on the floor in the living room of my family home in the hot August heat, writhing in the first experiences of menstrual pain. As I can recall, I was home by myself while my parents were working.
Eventually, my mom came home with bags of clothes. She wasn’t much of a shopper. She really hated being around people and always thought people were a nuisance, so her going clothes shopping was kind of a rarity- she would have to be in a particular mood to go shopping, I suppose. And that kind of mood was hard to come by for her.
I remember her leaving the room with the bags, then coming back to show me the new pair of pants she bought herself. They were a burgundy color, made of stretchy, silky fabric that also seemed to replicated the lines of a corduroy fabric if let loose enough. I looked at her modeling the pants and it struck me as a moment of deja vu that I could actually place, that I had documented two days earlier in my dream journal.
This moment in time, watching my mother model these palazzo looking burgundy pants, was the exact experience I had in my dream 2 days earlier. It stunned me. I remember saying to my mother “I dreamed you wore those pants”. That realization has been a memory that I continually draw as an incredible psychic experience that has since been a defining moment in my life.
This experience seems to really fit the definition of precognition- a visual of what’s to come in a way that’s unpredictable.
Ways to Tap Into Your Precognition Skills
Meditation
Meditation is important to find ‘your baseline’, where you connect to your own physical, mental and spiritual self in order to compare experienced external energy/messages to. Practicing meditation allows for you to explore the psychic world and get to know yourself. This is your journey and this is how you lead your way.
For more information on meditation, check out my blog post 'Meditation Basics for Developing Psychic Abilities and Other Soul Abilities' and try out these videos so you can sit back and find your baseline.
Know Your Clairs
If you are not familiar with the clairs then you may not be able to identify how you receive with you psychic senses/soul senses. It is important to get to know them so you can get a clearer understanding of your own psychic/intuitive/mediumship/etc. abilities and the tools that you naturally use to receive energy and messaging.
Get to know the different kinds of clair by checking my previous blog post ‘Time to Meet the Clairs’.
Exercise Tips
There are some tips I have for you when you are getting your psychic/intuitive/mediumship exercise on that will help you tremendously. In my previous blog post ‘Psychic Development Exercises: Developing the Soul Senses & Soul Abilities’, I had a section of tips that I infographed and you can see in brevity to the side here.
Here are your tips when practicing mediumship:
Keep an open mind
Meditate
Observe
Document
I had already mentioned meditation above, but I would also add a few more to include:
Keep an open mind - don’t dismiss or let logic take control
Observe - don’t judge what comes in, just receive
Document - keep a journal of your experiences and try to include details
Additionally, I would add that, with time, observing how your ego enters your receptive process will help you get messaging better and reduce the strain of picking up on things. My previous blog post ‘Identifying Ego In Your Psychic Messaging’ can help you out with that once you have your bearings.
PRO TIP: Start A Dream Journal
The single most important factor in uncovering your psychic and other soul abilities is documentation. As your read in my own precognition example, what made my milestone experience exceptional was that I had documentation of my dream that I could look back on. The dream state is the easiest way for you to see what premonition abilities you naturally have and be sure to document any detail you can recall.

My Sources
Drawing on my own experiences is a tool for you to compare your own experiences but, there are people and sources that I have used to be able to write this post. I am by no means an expert on precognition and these are the places that I used to be able to bring you information that I found to write this post, from sources that have spent a lot more time on the subject than I have.
Here are the places that I found information in order to give you a stronger understanding of what precognition is:
