Props to your imagination

A recent video posted by Carolyn Myss got me thinking about the imagination.

Her video is a prayer talking about the power of imagination as a tool of the soul. How imagination is cast in a negative light as a place of falsehoods.

It was through this fantastic video that I’ve been thinking of my place of imagination and how it is, in fact, my canvas for communication with source and my higher self.

Carolyn Myss

If you don’t know who Carolyn Myss is it’s kind of amazing that I get to introduce you to her.

She speaks on many levels of my own truths and continues to expand my realm of possibility. My wee library of ‘soul’ related books, six to be exact, includes one of her books called ‘Sacred Contracts’.

I want to be sure to pass along a few details that I got from her website to give you a quick introduction: she’s a New York Times best selling author, she is an international speaker about many aspects of ‘new agey’ topics. Here’s a rundown on what she covers: Human consciousness, spirituality, mysticism, health, energy medicine, and science of medical intuition.

She talks about things in a way that does not jive with my non-religious preference, saying things like ‘prayer’ instead of ‘meditation' or ‘mantra’, using the word ‘God’ instead of ‘spirit’ or ‘source. She seems to have both feet in spirituality and religion when she talks about new agey concepts by mixing in religious terminology. Once I got over these lexicon obstacles, I was able to really listen to her thoughts and then, resonate with her truth.

Her video about ‘The Holy Imagination’ touched on many broad things to do with the imagination that I feel are right on-point.

Society’s view on imagination

One thing that Caroline touches on is society’s view on the imagination. It is deemed a place of falsehoods. It is a place that wastes everybody’s time. It is a place of possibility where society feels ‘If it cannot exist in the world we have now, then is it worth visiting at all?’

Yet, we use this tool to create successes in scientific research, to write popular musicals, reinvent stylish clothes and even shift the power of society. It takes the imagination of possibility to create these successes.

It is also a common scapegoat when a doctor is unable to diagnose- ‘it’s in your head’.

Imagination creates possibility

Imagination is the place of possibility, good and bad.

In Caroline’s video she addresses that imagination is the place we constantly go to to imagine the bad things that could happen, but rarely do we go there to imagine the good things that could happen.

Why are we so willing to, and maybe by default, go to our imagination with all of the bad what-ifs of life but, rarely go there with the positive what-ifs of life?

We are easy to dismiss the fantasies we create in the imagination as ‘wishful thinking’ but, the fears we imagine become very real to our reality.

Got something coming up? Are you not looking forward to it because you are worried about your future…

… embarrassment?

… discomfort?

… guilt?

You go there. You go there, a lot. We go there to continually feed our fantasies of fear.

Our fears and fantasies are both created in the imagination so, why is one considered not reality while the other controls our reality?

Your imagination dictates your world to what it is and what it isn’t.

What if we went there more often to nurture our fantasies of happiness, gratitude, joy?

Your imagination is where you can stretch the limits of your reality. We easily do it with our fears so, we can easily do that with our confidence, with calmness and with happiness.

You create the limits and possibilities of your reality using your imagination.

If you are struggling with perceiving your soul senses, receiving messaging, or interpreting messaging, is it in your realm of possibility to do that? Are you accepting of this in your imagined world?

I ask this very real question because, the imagination is my tool to connect and receive with my psychic abilities, intuitive abilities and mediumship abilities.

And, it’s easy.

Any knowledge we have, came from something we previously imagined.

Imagination as a tool for soul abilities

See this content in the original post

Hearing Carolyn talk about imagination made me reflect on my own imagination but, more so in how I use it with my soul abilities- intuition, psychic and mediumship.

Quite simply, it is the screen I see to receive messages.

I am a very visual person and clairvoyance is a solid soul sense for me, which is why I think of this as a screen, a canvas.

Another term to use would be ‘the mind’s eye’.

You go there when you lay down at night and close your eyes, letting your mind wander. You go there when you daydream.

As I have explored my abilities and senses through the various experiences I’ve had, I have come to distinguish the different ways I use my imagination.

Like I said, it’s the place I go to receive messaging. But, it’s also the place I go to when I’m creating- music, art, a new blog topic, a new business idea.

Going there and using that space is a way to be open to possibility- no matter if I am engaging the creation or if something else is creating and I watch.

What I get depends on who’s in control

The two ways that I’ve noticed that I go to my imagination is distinguished by who has control of my imagination- myself or something external of me (source, spirit, my higher self, I don’t exactly know, so, whatever).

The way that I engage with my imagination that would be most familiar to you would be going there to control the screen or canvas myself. We go there with a task, with an intention of creation, perhaps creating something to become reality. This is why you do this already:

‘I need to come up with a way to get $400 to fix my car right now. How am I going to do that?’

‘I should talk to my coworker because they are not doing this certain procedure correctly. What should I say and how should I bring it up?’

‘I want to be wanted by Jason Mamoa and I’m going to imagine a ridiculous happening where I cross his path and get his attention and, you know, stuff happens <wink>. How could that take place? Not that that is going to happen but, it makes me feel good to imagine it.’

You go there because you have to take care of a problem or you want to create something that makes you feel good.

Sometimes we just wanna feel good, amiright, Jason?

…….. <clears throat> Anyway

I also go to my imagination to receive the messages from my soul senses,

I go there with curiosity and a blank space- waiting for a flash to fill it with a visual, a color, an object, a person. Believe it or not, there are many screens placed in different parts of my periphery but, inside my mind. Which screen or canvas I choose to focus on tells me where the information is being processed- which soul ability is receiving- my intuition, my psychic, my medium.

My imagination isn’t just visual though. I can imagine smells. I notice if I breath in very still and almost not at all, I tend to get more accurate receiving of smells (using Clairalience/ Clairscent/ Clairolfaction) than if I take a big whiff.

Imagination is my television screen, my computer monitor for all of my soul senses.

How open you are to the possibility of the imagination is how open you can be to the information you receive with ALL of your human senses.

How limiting imagination limits receiving

I love Charlie Kelly. He is a medium out of the UK and he can be brutally honest with his understanding of the soul world. But, I’m down with that. I think you would be, too.

Charlie has had a couple of videos that I’ve checked out where he talks about how mediums limit themselves and I can see how this is an effect of not being open to possibility, putting a threshold on your imagination that could actual disable information from being processed through your psychic/soul senses or soul abilities.

In this video Charlie talks about how we limit ourselves by avoiding the uncomfortable. But, frankly, if you feel comfortable then, you aren’t getting better at using your abilities.

Getting comfortable with using your imagination means you have to experiment and uncover its truth. That can feel embarrassing but that little egoic pain will dissolve when the power of your imagination’s truth becomes revealed.

In this video, Charlie talks about how mediums limit themselves because ‘it can’t be possible’, using logic to trump the possibility of circumstances, limiting the possibility and the imagination. Remember, imagination is a tool for receiving messaging. Limit this tool and you don’t get all the information.

Final thoughts

Use your imagination, set yourself free. Practice using it and maybe you’ll start to get that controlled messaging you’ve been waiting for. Just, be open to its possibilities. Let it be the screen to receive your messaging by going there without expectation and open to what is revealed.

Leaving you with a final thought, a quote from Caroline Myss’ video above. It’s the very last things she says in the video and I like it a lot.

“If someone ever said to me ‘You’re just imagining’, (I’d say), ‘Ya damn right, I am.’ There’s power in that. Power, power, power.’

Find yours.
